Hirotoshi Takeda

School of Business

Hirotoshi Takeda is an Assistant Professor of Business Analytics and Information Systems in the School of Business at the University of Southern Maine, in Portland, Maine. He was previously an Associate Professor in Management Information Systems at Universite Laval in Quebec City, Canada. He was formerly a post-doc researcher at the University of Nantes, France, and was an adjunct professor at North Carolina Central University. In 2018, he was a Visiting AU Summer University professor at Aarhus University in Denmark. He taught a course titled “Business Intelligence from Web Data Analytics and Data Mining”. He has seven years of industry experience in telecommunications, semiconductor manufacturing, and IT consulting. After his career in industry, he graduated with a Ph.D. in Computer Information Systems from Georgia State University and a Ph.D. in Management from the University of Paris Dauphine. He has bachelors degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from UC Irvine, a Masters of Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and his MBA from Southern Methodist University. His research interests include discourse analysis, mobile computing, bibliometrics, virtual communities, knowledge management, open data, supply chain management, and green IS. His research has appeared in the Journal of the Association for Information Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, Information Systems Educators Journal, Communications of the Association for Information Systems, and the conference proceedings of the ICIS, AIM, AMCIS, SAIS, UKAIS, ISECON, and IFIP WG 8.2.
